I am taking a mosaic class with Bonnie Fitzgerald through the Smithsonian. This is my bee, using lampwork beads, African bronze beads, rose quartz, murrini, stained glass, pearls and Czech glass beads. Glass is so versatile it was a natural first choice of materials.
I started with the spiral lampwork bead in the bee's chest area, symbolizing the ancient traditions of moving chi from the ego to the soul, connecting with the divine. The spiral also represents the Fibonacci sequence in nature. I will use tiles for my next one.
