This vase is a collaboration with Paul Swartwood, our glass blower at Glen Echo Glassworks. I made a rectangular flat glass piece and then did glass combing - my first time!

This involves taking the kiln to 1700 degrees Fahrenheit and then raking through the glass to create swirls. You only have about ten seconds for each combing before the glass cools and you need to heat it back up again. After I finished I took the piece to Paul to roll it up into a vase by glass blowing. A very successful collaboration. 🙂
